URGENT Police call for military intervention to end Bolivia violence: commander La Paz, Nov 12, 2019 (AFP) - The police chief of La Paz, Bolivia's seat of government, called Monday for the military to intervene to prevent violence by supporters of resigned president Evo Morales, following three weeks of clashes over a disputed election. Colonel Jose Barrenechea called on General Williams Kaliman to "intervene, because the Bolivian police have been overrun." Some small police barracks around the country were torched or looted on Monday. The police had joined anti-Morales protesters over the weekend in demanding that he resign. jac/fj/lda/bc/wd
