Brahmos to Protect the Indian Coast August 13, 2019

India announced that it will procure two coastal BrahMos supersonic missile batteries.

The new batteries, which will replace the systems already in use, will be içput in the navy inventory. Systems will be mobilised with integration to Tatra trucks, will be deployed in areas close to critical cities.

The missile system, which can be effective against targets beyond the radar horizon, can fly at supersonic speeds thanks to its ramjet engine. The system is estimated to reach an effective range of 300 to 400 km, can be effective against moving surface targets. Thanks to the universal vertical launchers developed by BRAHMOS, the system can be launched from ships at 2.5-second intervals.
