$337 million Frigate 5 September, 2016

The Philippine Navy (PN) awarded a $337 million contract to the Republic of Korea's Hyundai to supply the Philippine Navy with two new frigates. The acquisition programme was first launched by PN in 2013. The awarded HDF-3000 Multi-mission Frigate is also the predecessor of Incheon (FFX-I) class guided-missile frigate of the Republic of Korea Navy. Frigates are armed with a standard 127 mm naval gun, two missile launchers, two triple torpedo tubes and associated fire control systems, however the PN's additional equipment wish-list for the frigates is currently unknown. Expected to accommodate 12-tonne helicopter on flight deck, HDF-3000 has an overall length of 114,3 m and an overall beam of 14 m. The frigate is planned to be used in long range surveillance, patrol and interdiction operations.
