$5 billion contract recission

$5 billion contract recission 3 September, 2016

Being responsible from maintaining and upgrading America's nuclear warheads, The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) rescinded a $5 billion, ten-year agreement with Nevada Site Science Support and Technologies Corporation (NVS3T), a subsidiary of Lockheed Martin. Stating their reason as concerns over the sale of the subsidiary to Leidos, NNSA's intent was to give NVS3T the management and operation of Nevada National Security Site (NNSS). While Leidos stands behind NSV3T’s proposal, NNSA states that such a change in ownership could significantly impact the evaluation of the proposal and award decision. The contract is now an active government procurement process and NNSS facility will continue to be operated by its current management firm, National Security Technologies, until a new contract is awarded.
