'Astra' Test-fire by India

'Astra' Test-fire by India 15 September, 2017

The Indian Air Force (IAF) test fired an Astra air-to-air missile from a Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter jet over the Bay of Bengal on 14 September. A defence official announced that the missile targeted a pilotless target aircraft (PTA), demonstrating the repeatability, robustness and endurance capability of the Astra weapon system.

The 3,8-meter long missile can be integrated with Mirage-2000, MiG-29, Jaguar and Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) apart from Sukhoi.
