3 shipyards on Australian shortlist April 20, 2016

BAE, Fincantieri and Navantia ships are on Australian shortlist to build nine new frigates for the Royal Australian Navy. Australian Defence Minister Senator Marise Payne has announced companies that are on the short list. The BAE Systems Global Combat Ship is based on the Type 26 frigate. Fincantieri proposes anti-submarine warfare FREMM (Fregata Europea Multi-Missione) and  Navantia proposes a redesigned version of Álvaro de Bazán (F100) class vessel. The ships will be built in Adelaide, South Australia.
