40N6 Missiles Might Enter Service Soon April 9, 2018

The trials of new 40N6 surface-to-air missiles for Russia’s S-400 Triumf air defence system have entered the final stage and are expected to be handed over to Russian armed forces for a test operation in summer. The launch trials of 40N6 were held in February and the missile received only minor design changes. Another series of trials are scheduled in April-May after which the final decision on serial production is expected.

40N6 missiles have a range of 400 kilometres and is capable of destroying aircraft, cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and manoeuvring warheads. The missile was designed for both S-400 and S-500 systems.
