Europe is taking important steps to unite its strength in the defence industry. Collaboration on Permanent Structured Cooperation and defence is seen as the new step of the European Union (EU). ‘’When Europeans join forces, our impact is higher than we imagine’’ EU High Representative Federica Mogherini said PESCO helps EU Member States work closely in the field of security and defence. PESCO was established in December 2017 and aims to improve the defence capabilities of the member countries by developing partnerships. The member states of the Structured Permanent Cooperation, which has 47 projects so far.

The 25 member states participating in PESCO are: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Greek Cyprus, Hungary, Italy, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden.
