Russia will deploy two regiments of S-400 air defence missile system in Leningrad. According to a statement made by Russia’s Western Military Command on Wednesday, the systems will be deployed in the Air Force and Air Defense unit in the Leningrad region to protect the aerial borders of North-West Russia. Deployement will take place after the operational readiness exercise is completed which is going to be held at the Ashuluk military station. Developed by Almaz Central Design Bureau, the S-400 Triumph can target aircraft and cruise missiles at a distance of up to 400 km and in service for Russian Army since April 2007.
