BAE Accelerates Production Rate

BAE Accelerates Production Rate 21 October, 2016

The US Navy awarded a three-year contract to BAE Systems to accelerate the deliveries of company’s Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS). The indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract worth $600 million, aims to speed up the deliveries from the current rate of 1,500-2,000 units annually to 5,000 units for the first year and increase the rate over time. The first delivery is expected to be realized at the end of 2016. APKWS turns a standard unguided 2.75-inch (70 millimeter) rocket into a precision laser-guided rocket and the US Air Force uses the system on its Lockheed Martin F-16s.
