BAE’s APKWS II deployed on fixed wings 31 March, 2016

The Harrier II became the first fixed wing air platform that used Advanced Precision Kill Weapons System II (APKWS II) on battle field. The US Marine Corps (USMC) has begun using the fixed-wing variant of the APKWS II on AV-8B Harrier II aircraft instead of rotary wings. APKWSs are deployed to Bahrain as part of Operation 'Inherent Resolve', the US Central Command mission to degrade and defeat the terror groups in Bahrein. Marine Corps have requested the delivery of APKWS to Harrier IIs seven months ago.
