Bahrain Has Preferred the Patriot over the S-400 15 August, 2019

The Kingdom of Bahrain signed an agreement to purchase Raytheon's Patriot air and missile defence system from the United States Army. This letter of offer and acceptance allows the US government to begin contract negotiations with Raytheon for production of an undisclosed quantity of systems and missiles.

"Patriot missiles will provide Bahrain's anti-ballistic defence, its cruise missile defence and manned and unmanned aircraft," said Raytheon Integrated Defence Systems chairman. "Patriots are constantly being upgraded and upgraded," he added.

Bahrain has requested the US Pentagon to supply 60 Patriot PAC-3 missiles worth $ 2.478 billion. However, there were reports that Bahrain was considering supplying Russian S-400s.

A Raytheon press release on the topic yesterday did not mention when the agreement was signed.
