Balances in the Black Sea on the Way to Kanal İstanbul 24 July, 2016

Following the official announcement of the Kanal İstanbul Project in 2011, first the Montreux Convention Regarding the Regime of the Straits and then issues related with Black Sea security became the foremost topics of the national defence and security agenda. A project of such scale requires a healthy assessment of the impact of this prospective canal in terms of international law, national security and regional geopolitics. So far, a comprehensive evaluation is lacking at least among the Turkish people.
