Spanish Corvette for Persian Gulf 10 November, 2016

Saudi Arabia is expected to sign a contract with Spain’s Navantia shipyards for five corvettes during Spanish King Philip VI’s first official visit to Saudi Arabia. The $2 billion contract will also cover construction of a new naval base. The Guaiquerí class patrol vessels (Avante 2200 Combatant) has an overall length of 98,5 meters with a 2 thousand 450 tonne-displacement. The Spanish corvettes will replace the Badr-class corvettes based in the Persian Gulf.
