China's New Destroyer In Her First Live-Firing Drill 17 April, 2017

China's People's Liberation Army Navy has conducted the first live-fire exercise of its Type 052D (NATO reporting name Luyang III class) guided missile destroyer Xining. The vessel is armed with 130mm H/PJ-38 main gun and seven-barelled 30mm H/PJ-12 close in weapon system (CIWS), both of which have been used during the exercise. At least one Yu-7 lightweight torpedo was also launched by Xining during anti-submarine warfare training. The new destroyer has also verified its coordination and cooperation with anti-submarine helicopters. Officers and sailors were drilled through fix and maintenance of vessel damage, fire control, anti-nuclear and anti-chemical warfare, and first-aid rescue.
