Christening Ceremony for Amphibious Assault Ship 18 September, 2017

The US Navy's newest America-class amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli (LHA 7) has been christened during a ceremony on 16 September, in Mississippi. It is the third Navy ship named Tripoli. Featuring an enlarged hangar deck, realignment and expansion of the aviation maintenance facilities, increased available stowage for parts and support equipment and aviation fuel capacity, the vessel will provide the fleet with a more aviation centric platform.

USS Tripoli is 257 meters in length, has a displacement of approximately 45,000 long tons and is capable of operating at speeds of over 20 knots.
