Coastal Defence Worth $725 million

Coastal Defence Worth $725 million September 5, 2016

Qatar will supply new coastal defence systems in the scope of an agreement signed with MBDA on September 1. Featuring MM40 Block 3 and Marte ER anti-ship missiles, the system can operate autonomously with its internal radar, while it can also be linked to a coastal surveillance network. New systems will enhance the Navy’s capability of monitoring coastal traffic and preventing the hostile ships to enter and threaten Qatar territorial seas. The amount of contract is yet undisclosed, although it was announced as $725 million according to theMemorandum of Understanding signed between two parties at the DIMDEX Exhibition in Doha. Neither the configuration of systems nor the numbers involved have been declared.
