Rise In The USD May Hit F-35s 3 December, 2017

The rising value of the USD in international markets could adversely affect the procurement plans for F-35 aircraft. The Dutch publisher NLTimes.nl wrote that the amount of F-35s to be purchased could be reduced. The site noted that the Dutch Ministry of Defence budget was limited and that the order for the last three of 37 F-35 aircraft ordered could therefore be canceled. The site, which included government correspondence in the Netherlands, wrote that the order was delayed to 2019 due to budget constraints. It is long debated in the Netherlands that F-35s were very expensive; F-16s should be kept in inventory for longer.
