Northrop Grumman has launched its AQS-24B mine hunting system at the Unmanned Warrior exercise on ARCIMS unmanned surface vessel (USV). The exercise is organised by the UK Royal Navy and held off the coasts of Scotland and West Wales. The AQS-24B and ACRIMS combination demonstrated high-speed (18 knots) mine countermeasure capability, as the new system features a high-speed synthetic aperture sonar (HSSAS) and an optical laser line scan sensor. With AQS-24B, naval platforms will be able to detect, localize, classify and identify mines in the shortest time possible.
