Eurofighter Typhoon Tests for Finland 14 January, 2020

Finland, which has announced procurement programs for the replacing of aging platforms in inventory, has started to looking for alternatives for the F/A-18 Hornets. In this context, the test phase has started in the HX Program, which is planned for the trial and evaluation process of the candidate aircraft.

Within the scope of the HX Program, whose total cost is estimated to reach 10 billion Euros; invitation for tender letters have been sent for Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II, Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet, Dassault Rafale, Saab Gripen and Eurofighter Typhoon airplanes. In this context, flight tests have recently started with Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft. Twin seater Typhoon T.Mk3 and single-seat FGR. Mk 4 of the Royal Air Force were arrived to Pirkkala Air Base of Finland on 9 January. Following the test flights expected to be completed in January, the Finnish Air Force will determine the final candidates by going through the evaluation process and examining data from ground and air trials. The Helsinki administration, which will announce its final decision in 2021, will receive new aircraft between the 2025-2030.
