F-35B: First deployment for 2017 30 April, 2016

Even though it was declared operational in the summer of 2015, the F-35B Marines will be able to deploy for the first time in 2017. The US Navy announced F-35B version of the Joint Strike Fighter to be shipped on board an amphibious ship of the Pacific fleet next year. Before declaring the aircraft suitable for operations, the Marines had deployed six aircraft aboard the amphibious ship "USS Wasp" for a series of tests called "operational". These tests included sessions of take-offs and landings but also allowed the Marines to test the organization of the operational maintenance of the F-35 aboard a US Navy ship.
