Fifth Ship Works Started at MİLGEM October 15, 2019

Signatures were signed for the fifth ship of the MİLGEM program of the Turkish Naval Forces and the first ship of class I. The fourth ship of the ADA class submarine defence warfare corvettes was signed on September 29th with the delivery ceremony of TCG Kınalıada. In the design of the fifth ship class, I air defence frigate, Defence Technologies Engineering Inc. (STM) will serve. The company had previously installed the design of four Ada classes. The ships were built under the command of the Istanbul Naval Shipyard under the Naval Forces. Within this framework, the agreement was signed on 12 April 2019 following the coordination between the Defence Industry Presidency (SSB) and STM and entered into force on 27 September 2019.

The first Class I Frigate is scheduled to be delivered to force in March 2021. CODAG will be used as the primary propulsion system. The ship will be powered by one gas turbine and two diesel engines. The boat will be steered by two controllable pitched propellers.

The ship will include 16 Atmaca-guided Rockets bullets, one 76 mm Super Rapid Cannon, two 25 mm stabilised cannon platforms, and one close air defence weapon system. One 10-ton Sea Hawk 70-B helicopter will be deployed onboard. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (GİHA) and two RHIB boats will be implemented.

Four Class I Frigates will be produced in total; It will have a length of 113.2 meters, a displacement of 3000 tons, a draft of 4.05 meters, a width of 14.4 meters, a cruising speed of 14+ knots and a maximum continuous cruising speed of 29+ knots.
