First Tactical A400M of German Air Force Delivered 13 December, 2016

Airbus Defence and Space announced on 12 December that the delivery of sixth A400M transport aircraft to German Air Force has been realized. This will be the first aircraft qualified for tactical operations, although the first five will be retrofitted to the new standards, as well. The aircraft received improvements in self-defence systems, ability to air-drop cargo loads, and paratrooping in addition to its transport and refuelling capabilities. This latest configuarion of A400M is certified to operate in temperatures up to 55°C at sea level, enabling the pilots conduct missions in challenging airfields. Germany has ordered a total of 53 A400Ms in 2014 in order to replace the ageing Transall C-160s.
