France to buy US made Laser-Guided bombs from Sweden 2 April, 2016

France has requested laser-guided bombs according to Swedish Defence Minister Peter Hultqvist.  Sweden is now evaluating to provide military support to France’s fight against the Islamic State group across the Middle East. The MoD has signalled that it is ready to deliver consisting mainly of US-made laser-guided bombs, rom the Swedish Armed Forces' (SAF) own arsenal. This arsenal includes an unknown number of GBU-12 Paveway II 227-kilogram laser-guided bombs produced by Lockheed Martin and Raytheon. The SAF also has Raytheon-produced AGM-65 Maverick air-to-ground tactical missiles designed for close-air support in its inventory. If the Swedish government follows through on the proposal, deliveries could begin in the second half of 2016. The follow through would require Sweden to enter into a purchase deal with the US to replenish the SAF’s stock of laser-guided bombs.
