GLSDB Hit Moving Target

GLSDB Hit Moving Target 11 June, 2018

Saab and Boeing have reached a new milestone in their jointly developed Surface-Launched Small Diameter Bomb (GLSDB) program. During the tests conducted in cooperation with the US Army Aviation and Missile Research, Development and Engineering Center (AMRDEC), GLSDB hit a moving target from 100 kilometers distance.

In August 2014, the Boeing and Saab jointly launched the GBU-39 Small Diameter Bomb ammunition with the ability to fire from ground. The system, which can be launched by platforms like the M270 MLRS and propulsing by the M26 rocket motor, can reach 150 kilometers ahead of the launcher and 70 kilometers behind the launcher targets. The system, which has a 270-kilogram warhead, is aiming with its folding wings. With different guidance modes, the system is able to move around  terrain and hit targets behind the  mountain and hill. GLSDB guided at the terminal phase with ground based laser marker during the test in 2017.
