First Trials of GÖKDOĞAN and BOZDOĞAN Carried Out 25 March, 2018

TUBITAK SAGE (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) Defence Industry Research and Development Institute/SAGE)-developed GÖKDOĞAN and BOZDOĞAN air-air missiles' first ballistic test-firings were successfully performed in Sinop. Within the scope of the test, the performance of the rocket motor without guidance and its ability to cancel mission in-flight were evaluated. By the end of 2018, the missile will be fired at live targets. Afterwards, the missiles will be launched by an aircraft. GÖKDOĞAN and BOZDOĞAN are expected to be completed in 2020. After the completion of the development process, SAGE will hand the project onto a manufacturer. GÖKDOĞAN is a short-range, high maneuverable missile featuring an infrared seeker. BOZDOGAN was designed as a long-range air-to-air missile with an active radar seeker warhead. BOZDOGAN has the qualities such as intelligent guidance with fire-and-forget feature after engaging the target, guidance towards advanced counter-countermeasure and jamming source, updating target information with datalink, launching from multiple angles and multi-target engagement, target engagement after being launched.
