The Royal Netherlands Army received the first of four upgraded Patriot air defence systems. In 2018, the Netherlands requested the US to upgrade the Patriot air defence system and Netherlands had signed approximately $ 105 million in contracts covering four systems. All four Dutch Patriot systems are to be upgraded by 2022.

The system has received a major overhaul and modifications and its lifetime has been extended to 2040. The first upgraded Patriot system will undergo integration tests and checks before it is returned to Royal Netherlands Army air defence troops for training at the end of July. includes radar sets, radar digital processors, engagement control stations, information and coordination central. The system has reached the modernization of Configuration 3+.
