India chases another aircraft

India chases another aircraft 4 January, 2017

India will stage a new competition for an indigenious fighter aircraft other than Tejas to be manufactured under 'Make in India' initiative. Indian Minister for Defence Manohar Parrikar explained that the competition would be for another single engine platform, and a decision was expected to be reached by the end of 2017.

India's choice of single-engine aircraft pushes F/A-18 and Rafale out of competition, leaving only Lockheed Martin's F-16 and Saab's Gripen in the contest.
