India is in Space 25 August, 2016

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is to perform air-breathing propulsion experiment using the RH-560 rocket with supersonic scramjet on August 28. Being the first of three experiments, the scramjet engine of RH-560 was tailor-made for this specific rocket by VSSC.

The trial was initially scheduled to be held on 28 July, however had to be delayed as IAF and Indian Navy put every means available into the search for the Indian transport aircraft An-32 which disappeared in the Bay of Bengal.

Planning another experiment with rocket GSLV F05 fitted with indigenous cryogenic engine, ISRO will also send Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) into space in September unless another delay occurs.
