India, Ukraine Agreed on Strategic Cooperation at DefExpo April 17, 2018

India and Ukraine have tightened relations in defence at DefExpo 2018. The First Deputy to the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleg Hladkovskiy and the Defence Minister of India, Nirmala Sitharaman held a meeting on 13 April and discussed Ukraine’s participation in the defense industry development program “Make in India”.

Hladkovskiy emphasized that the key areas of this cooperation saying that they were talking about the supply of Ukrainian gas turbine engines for the Indian Navy. He added that they also offer projects for the comprehensive modernization of T-72 and BMP-2 tanks, active protection system "Zaslon", and manufacture of engines for Indian tanks. Both parties agreed to cooperate in large-scale long-term projects, technology transfer, and forming joint ventures.
