Indian K-4 Missile Fails In Test

India's K-4 submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) has failed in a recent test, confusing the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) scientists about the root cause.

According to The Print, a 17 December attempt to launch a K-4 SLBM from a submerged pontoon failed and it is unclear what caused the failure. The solid-fueled K-4 missile is a still-in-development SLBM for use with the Indian Navy’s Arihant-class ballistic missile submarines. Indian Navy currently has two Arihant-class submarines, INS Arihant and INS Arighat.

Some reports say the failure of the K-4 can be attributed to a failure in the missile’s ignition following its ejection from the submerged pontoon however further investigation should be conducted to make sure of the main cause.
