Indian Navy Retires Sea Harriers 22 March, 2016

The Indian Navy plans to retire the Sea Harrier fleet that operates from its aircraft carrier INS Viraat, in order to replace them with MiG- 29Ks that India has bought from Russia.  The Indian Navy has 11 British-made Sea Harriers in inventory. The Sea Harrier pilots are now being trained to fly the Russian MiG 29K fighter aircraft.  INS Viraat, is proposed to be retired by year end.
