Indigenous Guidance Kit in Mass Production 5 December, 2017

The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, Defence Industry Research and Development Institute (TUBITAK SAGE) announced that it has begun mass production of the Wing Assisted Guidance Kit (Kanatlı Güdüm Kiti/KGK), which was developed to provide guidance and extended range capability to unguided general purpose bombs. The unveiling ceremony of the Wing Assisted Guidance Kit weapon system, developed and produced indigenously, was held at TUBITAK.

TÜBİTAK SAGE, who successfully completed the design, integration and production of KGK weapon system which converts the existing unguided 1000 lb MK-83 and 500 lb MK-82 general purpose bombs into long-range intelligent ammunition, also designed and manufactured some of the critical subsystems in-house, such as the thermal battery used in KGK and pyrotechnics components.
