Interim Solution With Harrier?

Interim Solution With Harrier? 6 December, 2017

An interim solution came to light for the aircraft to be deployed on the Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) TCG Anadolu, which will enter the inventory of the Turkish Naval Forces, according to an article in Jane's Defense magazine. According to western industry sources, Turkey started to work on an alternative purchasing of vertical take-off and landing AV-8B Harrier II as an interim solution before the planned acquisition of 19-20 short take-off/vertical landing (STOVL) F-35B. The negotiations with the United Kingdom has begun, but the route returned to the USA. The Royal Armed Forces aircraft have not flown since 2010 while the US Marine Corps AV-8B Harrier II aircraft were actively used.
