Last Day for Altay's Engine 22 December, 2017

Today is the last day for the national engine to be used on the Altay Main Battle Tank. Five companies received the Request for Proposal (RFP) for Power Group Development Project from the Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (SSM). These companies were BMC, FİGES, ISTANBUL SHIPYARD, TAI ENGINE (TEI) and TÜMOSAN. Among these companies, TÜMOSAN draws attention as the company has already undertaken the project however terminated the contract afterwards. It is expected that BMC, which together with the German Rheinmetall submit offers for the mass production of the tank, will bid for the power pack. Istanbul Shipyard operating in the maritime sector was one of the companies that received the RFP. The firm submit its offer to SSM. TEI, which submitted its offer for the National Combat Aircraft engine in the past days, did not bid this time. FİGES aims to expand its vision and enter the areas where it can be involved in serial production. The company had received the RFP in this context and submitted its offer today to SSM.
