Safety Tests for Mine Hunter November 1, 2016

Defence Advanced Reasearch Projects Agency’s (DARPA) “Sea Hunter” Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Continuous Trail Unmanned Vessel (ACTUV) is to undergo a certification process to determine the conformity of the ship with international navigational rules. DARPA announced the commence of the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGS) certification process on 24 October, at the annual AUVSI Unmanned Systems Defense maritime day. The objective is to make sure that in case the ship lose communications with its remote operator, it will complete its mission in the safest manner. The testing will start in January 2017.
