Egypt Will Receive More than 90 BMP-1 Armoured Vehicles from Greece 28 August, 2019

Hellenic Defence Systems (ΕΒΟ-PYRKAL) has contracted to rebuild 92 surplus BMP-1 armoured vehicles of the Greek Army, donated by Greece to Egypt. The contract, which will last for 26 months, will be executed entirely at the ESA Mandra plant.

Agreement between the two countries was already announced in September 2016.  The Greek version of the BMP-1A1 GR, which originally belonged to East Germany, was equipped with a US M2 Browning machine gun.
