Modernized Mi-28NM Unveiled 1 July, 2019


Russia unveiled upgraded Mi-28NM 'night hunter' attack helicopter which has been modernized based on operational experience in Syria. In May, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that 100 modernized Mi-28NM should be delivered to the Russian armed forces by 2028.

The platform is designed to search for and destroy low-speed air targets, tanks, armoured and non-armoured vehicles in all weather conditions. Equipped with the N025 radar station to perform reconnaissance and observation tasks, the Mi-28NM has an innovative imaging and signalling system. The rotorcraft platform also features a new electronic warfare system. In addition, a modernized helicopter has a modified fuselage and modernized engines; an auxiliary power plant and equipment for communication with unmanned aerial vehicles.
