MQ-4C Triton Ready for Production 26 September, 2016

The Northrop Grumman MQ-4C Triton Unmanned Aircraft System received approval which allows the program to enter into Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP), the first part of the production and deployment phase. The news were announced by the Department of Navy on 22 September. Developed under the Broad Area Maritime Surveillance (BAMS) program, the system is intended to provide real-time intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions (ISR) within a range of 2,000 nautical miles. The MQ-4C has a AN/ZPY-3 Multi-Function Active Sensor X-band AESA (active electronically scanned array) radar with a 360-degree field-of-regard and capable of  identifying a target in any weather condition.
