NATO’s New Defence Line Cyber Security Enlarges 3 December, 2016

Defence Industry Executive Committee has resolved to establish a new unit under the premises of Turkish Armed Forces in order to counter against cyber threats. NATO CCD COE Ambassador Kenneth Geers, who is also Senior Research Scientist at the US cyber security company COMODO, responded to our questions about the keys to cyber security.

C4Defence: Can you describe the NATO Ambassador to start with? Who is Kenneth Geers?

Kenneth Geers: I have been involved with the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence since well before its official opening in 2008. I moved to Estonia immediately following the large-scale distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack against Estonia in 2007 in order to help build the new NATO Centre. I was the first international researcher there, and the US Representative from 2007-2011. Today, I am a Centre Ambassador, which means that I help with academic research, cyber security conferences, guest speakers, and other outreach.
