New Propulsion System by Rolls-Royce

New Propulsion System by Rolls-Royce 22 September, 2016

Rolls-Royce announced on 20 September that the company will supply a combined diesel electric and diesel (CODLAD) propulsion system, and electrical systems for the Royal New Zealand Navy's (RNZN's) new fleet tanker. Replacing the supply ship, HMNZS Endeavour, the new vessel will be constructed by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) under a $360 million contract signed in July 2016. The ship will be able to carry 8 thousand tonnes of diesel fuel, 1 thousand 550 tonnes of aviation fuel, and 250 tonnes of fresh water. Rolls-Royce will also supply ship's propeller shafts, bow thruster and electric replenishment at sea (RAS) systems which they plan to deliver to HHI in 2018.
