Three New Fighters to Norway

Three New Fighters to Norway 15 September, 2019

The Royal Norwegian Air Force on Thursday took delivery of three additional F-35A fighters ( AM20, AM21 and AM22), ferried to Norway’s Orland air base by USAF pilots. They increase Norway’s F-35 fleet to 22 aircraft, 15 of them in-country and seven in the US.

The Armed Forces now have a total of 15 aircraft in Norway and seven aircraft in the United States.  Norway has sufficient numbers of aircraft to declare the F-35 system has attained Initial Operation Capability (IOC). That means the fighter planes should be able to operate and deploy elsewhere than their home base. It also means that Norway is able to carry out missions with regard to incident and crisis management nationally.
