First two Turkish F-35A aircrafts that Turkish Air Force expects to receive by 2018 are at construction phase now. Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, BAE Systems were the leading companies on the program where Turkey joined the Concept Demonstration Phase (CDP) of the JSF Program in 1999, and signed the international Memorandum of Understanding during the System Development and Demonstration (SDD) Phase in 2002 as a 3rd level participant.

Turkey agreed to purchase 100 F-35 while Turkish companies TAI, Alp Aviation, Kale Aero, Kale Pratt&Whitney, ASELSAN, AYESAŞ would have some workshare. On May 6, 2014, the order of the first two F-35A aircraft was approved by Defence Industry Executive Committee (DIEC), and following that, on January 7, 2015, DIEC approved the order of four additional aircraft. The aircraft will all have the Block-3F configuration.

The first two, to be manufactured in Low Rate Initial Production-10 (LRIP-10), are planned to be delivered in 2018. The additional four under LRIP-11 are planned to be delivered in 2019. Turkey plans to procure 100 F-35A aircraft in total.
