Australia progresses Hunter-class frigate programme. In 2018, BAE Systems Australia has been awarded a contract by the Australian Government that provides the framework for the design and build of nine Hunter Class frigates. The mobilisation of the Hunter-class frigate programme for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) is progressing with the continued development of BAE Systems’ Type 26 design. A system requirements review is scheduled for the third quarter of 2019. Construction of the first prototypes planned to begin in 2020 and the first steel is due to be cut on the first ship in 2022.

The agreement signed between Bae Systems and the Australian Government for the Hunter class program was worth about $ 20 million.
