The French Navy revealed the maintenance costs and operational availability of naval aircrafts in 2016 upon request of a member of French parliement, François Cornut-Gentille. According to the French Ministry of Defence, the navy’s 23 Dassault Atlantique 2 maritime patrol aircraft has the lowest operational availability with 26,2 percent, and cost $127.5 million to maintain. The highest availability belongs to the 5 Dassault Falcon 200 Guardian surveillance aircraft, with 69 percent and cost approximately $28,8 million. The second highest availability of 53,6 percent belongs to Dassault Rafale “M” fighter jets. Another platform of the Navy is Dassault Super Étendard Modernisé fighter availability of which is 46.5 percent with a maintenance cost of $20,4 million. Northrop Grumman’s Hawkeye E-2C early warning aircraft’s maintenance cost about $33 million and increased its operational availability from 24,7 percent to 32,3 percent.
