Russian Pantsir Missile Range Extended 7 October, 2016

The production of Russia’s new Pantsir SM Air Defence System (NATO reporting name: SA-22 Greyhound) will begin in two years. Sheglovsky Val company stated that the wheeled chassis usually used for the Kamaz trucks has been changed to fit the air defense system. Pantsir SM will also be mounted on a tracked chassis. Pantsir-SM air defense missile system will be able to detect the target at a distance of 75 kilometers and destroy it at a distance of 40 kilometers. Short to medium range surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery weapon system Pantsir first entered service in 2012. Russia has been replacing its Tunguska self-propelled anti-aircraft weapon with Pantsir system.
