Sri Lanka's AOPV Commissioned April 20, 2018

Sri Lanka Navy has commissioned its second Saryu-class advanced offshore patrol vessel (AOPV) SLNS Sindurala (P 624) during a ceremony on 19 April. India's Goa Shipyard has delivered the vessel on 22 March, 25 days ahead of schedule. First-of-class SLNS Sayurala (P 623) was commissioned in August 2017. Powered by two 9,000kW diesel engines, the AOPVs have an operating speed of 25 knots and an endurance of 6 thousand nautical miles. Goa shipyard delivered the first AOPV, SLNS Sayurala, to the Sri Lankan Navy in July 2017 which entered service in August 2017. The two OPVs were built under a $155 million contract signed in 2014.
