Su-33 Crashed While Landing on Admiral Kuznetsov Deck 5 December, 2016

Failing to land on the deck of Admiral Kuznetsov Aircraft carrier, a Su-33 fighter aircraft has crashed into the sea after completing its mission in Syria. The pilot has launched the jettison system, ejected from the plane, and rescued unharmed. Reportedly, the aircraft landed on the deck successfully, however the special cable that should stop the platform broke off.

When the aircraft wheel touch down on the deck, the pilot levels up the engine power to "full throttle", so that the platform has enough force to move and take-off again if the cable-aircraft connection fails.

Russian Defence Ministry confirmed the incident, also stating that the carrier continues its mission as planned. The modernization programme of Admiral Kuznetsov has been long on the agenda.
