Syria Blames US 26 December, 2019

As the conflict and migration continued within the country, an attack was organized on December 21, targeting the oil refinery and gas facilities in Homs. Syria has held the United States accountable for the December 21 drone strikes carried out at Homs oil refinery and al-Rayan Gas station. “The United States, using its illegal military base in Al-Tanf, sent unmanned aerial vehicles to Homs and carried out airstrikes on oil refining infrastructure," Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem was quoted as saying by UAWire.

According to the Anatolian Agency's sources in recent weeks, the US will send experts from Egypt and Saudi Arabia origin to the Omar oil field located in the Deirizor countryside. Aramco, the Saudi state-owned oil company, has denied that the United States has sent a delegation for exploration.

The Russian Ministry of Defence published satellite intelligence images showing America reportedly smuggling oil from Syria. The ministry spokesman said that “the space intelligence images showed that oil was actively extracted and massively exported for processing outside Syria, under the reliable protection of US troops, before and after the defeat of the ISIS terrorists.”

US Defence Secretary Mark Esper said recently that Washington would send armoured vehicles and troops to the Syrian oil fields in order to "prevent them from falling into the hands of Islamic State militants."
