T-72 Modernization Can Be Completed in A Short Time 14 September, 2020

For the T-72 developed via T-64 for the modern tank needs, it is thought that Russia will complete the modernization process in a short time. General Sergei Maev, former head of the Main Armoured Platform Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defence, said the modernization of the T-72 tanks would strengthen the army. "Of course, the modernization of T-72 tanks will strengthen the army. How long it will take depends on many factors, primarily on how much funding will be allocated for the modernization, how the task will be set to enterprises and what amount of work," said Mayev.

Equipped with a more reliable automatic loading and stabilization system than the T-72s, the tank has a new 1130 horsepower engine and combat system.

Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu announced that all T-72 tanks in the armed forces inventory would be increased to T-72B3M.
